Pour is a poetic film essay documenting the artistic processes and philosophy of sculptor Merrill Bickford, or Stewart Harwood as he was later known in life.

(Merrill Bickford, 1968 – on the set of “Pour”)

The film uses immersive cinematography techniques and voice over comments from Merrill to describe his multi-dimensional concepts for bronze casting. Her films Death Mask and The Foul Up were made while Kathy taught at the progressive Peninsula School in Menlo Park, California. Kathy often led her students into film collaborations where the freedom to express their own stream of consciousness was not only encouraged, but actually structured and drove the films. Kathy continued her film-making with Steve Wilson in their educational film company Entheos Communication Corporation. Entheos’ films were focused on environmental concerns such as the conflict of competing forces in the natural politics of land use and the implications of factory farming. Her forward thinking, introspective films led Kathy into an inward journey of teaching and research in Transcendental Meditation. After years of deep meditation, Kathy moved to Fairfield, Iowa to help create a living utopian vision of an ideal society. Kathy and her husband Bob continue their transcendental meditation practice daily.
